Chef Donna Hammond, well-known and loved in the Hudson Valley, opened the doors of the Hudson Street Café in Cornwall-on Hudson in July, 2009 for breakfast, lunch, dinner and custom catering. Beloved in Cornwall, the Café outgrew its space and moved in 2016 to the Town of Newburgh and customers from Cornwall were joined by fans from all over the county. Near Stewart Airport, Route 84 and the NY State Thruway, the Hudson Street Café soon expanded its fanbase to several counties and beyond known for fresh, local food and excellent service. Working through the pandemic, first feeding the National Guard and then providing takeout for loyal customers, Chef Hammond 'passed the spatula' to owner of Vegetalian in Beacon, Chef Moises Ortega. In June 2021 Chef Ortega opened the doors again to ably serve the community in the Hudson Street Café farm-to-table tradition.
